Background & Experience
Scott Cienkus, M.D. is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with over 26 years of experience caring for patients in the North Shore. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame before attending Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Cienkus went on to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis where he received the distinction of the Humanitarian award in his graduating residency class.
After the completion of his Internal Medicine residency, Dr. Cienkus joined NorthShore University HealthSystem in the Department of Internal Medicine where he was a Clinical Instructor on faculty at Northwestern University School of Medicine from 1996-2008 and then went on to become a Senior Clinical Educator at the University of Chicago School of Medicine from 2008 to the present. While at NorthShore University HealthSystem he served on several committees and spent a period of time as the lead physician for his medical group.
Dr. Cienkus launched Aspire Internal Medicine in 2023 after spending the majority of his career at NorthShore University HealthSystem. His goal in starting Aspire Internal Medicine is to provide relationship-driven quality care by partnering with patients on their journey of living healthier lives. While working at Aspire Internal Medicine he continues to be on the NorthShore University HealthSystem Professional Staff and maintains relationships with NorthShore University HealthSystem specialists and hospitals.
A native Chicagoan, Dr. Cienkus grew up in Jefferson Park before attending high school at Loyola Academy. He lives in Glenview with his wife Bridget and their three children. When not caring for his patients, he enjoys spending time with his family and neighbors and staying active through swimming and cycling. Dr. Cienkus is passionate about personalized, preventative care and is well-known for serving his patients in an individualized and compassionate manner.
